HEIMSPIEL 2011 was a work space
and festival dedicated to documentary, process-oriented and actionist theatre
projects. HEIMSPIEL 2011 brought together more than 100 theatre professionals,
architects, theatre scholars and media theorists to discuss current trends in theatre.
Starting from January 2012, you can find the documents of the most important
theoretical contributions and artists presentations on this website.
HEIMSPIEL 2011 offered the opportunity to get an overview of the current
artistic practices, to exchange experiences with international colleagues and
to discuss the aesthetics of promising theater projects. Under the motto „Whose
stage is it, anyway?“ the HEIMSPIEL symposium
raised the question, how current theater projects have already changed or will
further change our understanding of theater. A muli-channel installation by the
Berlin based authors duo Serotonin provided an overiew of the productions that have
been financed by the German Federal Cultural Foundations Heimspiel Fund between
2006 and 2011. You’ll find an earplay-version of this project here.
HEIMSPIEL 2011
also presented six international productions. Six workshops offered the
opportunity to elaborate new project ideas under the direction of international
theatre professionals (see Bijari's „Urban
Intervention Video“ as a possibe outcome.).
HEIMSPIEL 2011 was the third and last event on the Heimspiel Fund of the German
Federal Cultural Foundation – and an invitation to raise questions, meet
colleagues and accomplices, and make new discoveries.
I cordially thank all lecturers and artists who participated in
HEIMSPIEL 2011, the entire HEIMSPIEL 2011 team, and all those who contributed
to making this project a success.
